Dan Varga, Mary Ann Schauerhamer, Patrick Rotich, and Adam Petty are part of the Get Fit Running Club, but Dan, Mary Ann and Patrick also train with and are members of Utah Running Club.
For the most updated info on any last minute changes or details on what workouts we will do each day, you may request to join the facebook group “Utah Running Club” once you have attended 1 practice once every 6 months from Jan-June, or July-Dec or paid to join, or have ran a 5K in under 19 minutes or done something else to contribute to the club.
When you come, look for Mary Ann, a girl with short brunette hair. I am the President.
Usually Mon-Fri 6:15-6:20 am and Mon-Thu 5:00-5:10 pm Exchange Park, 700 W 900 N, Provo (Call to verify)
Incase you are late or can’t get there in time, or can’t find us, ie. we are late, meet us running back and forth or stretching on the grass or Provo River Trail or near the restroom to gather late people every day. Speed and fast/hard/long days will usually be on Tue/Thr. You don’t have to join us on the hard workouts though.
We have a range of paces and everyone can go their own pace! Walkers, joggers, and advanced runners are welcome! Please call 801-473-3969 if you come so we can look for you and make sure we meet you, especially if you come at any other time than our first meeting times. Feel free to alter these routes to your own distance or other needs, but in order to get credit for running stores or free race entries, etc, you need to at least run 1 mile with us (or behind or ahead of us the same route). We typically have a speed workout at least twice each week, and strides on the other days.
.
One of our favorite routes:
Provo River Trail
This route includes long stretches of grass for a softer running surface and asphalt for mud-free comfort, thick trees for shade and natural scenery, is away from cars and stop lights (except for the detour for construction for the overpass above I-15), and has the sound of the river for a serene and pleasurable experience. It is about 5.6 miles from Exchange Park to the end of the trail by the lake, or 11.2 miles out and back.

Sat: See the events page for our frequent races in Orem! We have a multiple events ranging from half-marathons to 1 mile up the Provo Canyon with prizes for the top finishers!
All runners and walkers of all abilities are encouraged to come practice with us. Even if you can’t keep up or if you are faster than the group, it is still good to make a habit of meeting people to help you stay committed to a regular exercise routine.
Please call me at 801-473-3969 before you come to run so I will know you are coming and recognize you. If you are late, be sure to call so I can tell you where we are on the run. Over time we hope to create a large group so that everyone has someone near their ability level to run with after the warm up and so we can all make more friends and enjoy training more. In order for it to grow, we need your support by your attendance. Bring your friends, no matter what kind of shape you’re in. Come walk if you want! Knowing that people are planning on running with each other at a certain time helps you to be consistent. Thanks for your help!
If you would like me to run right along side you rather than zig zagging or turning around and running back every 1/2 mile and you run slower than 8:30/mile, you can hire me as a personal trainer (see below).
Group Run Leader: Mary Ann Schauerhamer (see Bio page)
PERSONAL TRAINING:
Hi, this is Mary Ann Schauerhamer! I will be happy to answer any of your running questions and/or give you an individualized training and/or nutrition plan by phone at 801-473-3969 or sit down with you somewhere in Utah County (1 hour minimum outside of Provo) or go on a run with you and give you advice while you are running for $12/hour. I can help runners and walkers of any ability level to become motivated and knowledgeable about running to improve their fitness and health and reach their running goals. Those who come to the group workouts and URC events can get free advice during the workouts and after the races during clean-up, and at our monthly store tours. If you join Utah Running Club, you get 15 minutes for free. I can also give you advice by e-mail at UtahRunningClub@gmail.com. Payment is due upon service. If we don’t meet in person, please mail the payment to 265 E 200 N Apt 21, Provo, UT, 84606. Please understand that although I love to help runners, I am a runner myself and have a lot to do and it is hard to make a living as a professional runner and race director at first, so although I wish I could just give you my time for free, my time is valuable and limited with all the training and races I have to plan each month as well as advertising for and updating the Utah Running Guide.com website that I have created I simply can not afford to help people unless they compensate me for my time. Thank you for your support you give me and the causes I promote!
I can give you some resources that tell what the pros suggest as well, such as Deena Kastor, American Record Holder in the Marathon and Half-Marathon! Get started on the right track now! Call or e-mail any time!
